Plague Times Diary (29) - Roger Corman holdings at FILM CLUB

Film Club in Darlinghurst  (136 Darlinghurst Road, Darlinghurst) is the last of the serious video rental stores that only a decade or so dotted the suburbs. Its slogan of The Last, Best Video Store is accurate, for Sydney at least.

Following the posting of a piece  about the recent box-set of Roger Corman Edgar Allan Poe adaptations, Film Club proprietor Ben Kenny was asked to supply a list of the store's holdings of Corman titles.

Here it is - a good selection which gives you an idea of the breadth of Corman's work - from ultra cheap schlock to quality. Five of the eight Corman/Poe movies are on the shelves.

Jack Nicholson, The Little Shop of Horrors, 1960
Little Shop of Horrors
Wild Angels
Death Race 2000 (Dir: Paul Bartel, Prod: Corman)
The Trip
The Pit and the Pendulum
The Masque of Red Death
The Raven
The Terror
Dementia 13
The Tomb of Ligeia
Boxcar Bertha (Dir: Martin Scorsese, Prod: Corman)

Piranha (Dir: Joe Dante, Prod: Corman)
Gas-s-s-s
Caged Heat (Dir: Jonathan Demme, Prod: Corman)
Tower of London
Ski Troop Attack
Creature from the Haunted Sea
A Bucket of Blood
Last Woman on Earth
She Gods of Shark Reef
It Conquered the World

A large tip of a very large iceberg.
