In celebration of the Alliance Française French Film Festival launching this week, the Alliance Française de Sydney (AFS) is delighted to introduce an exciting new masterclass series, The giants of French cinema, led by industry expert, Laurent Auclair.

Kickstarting on Thursday 10 March, this series will explore some of the biggest names in French cinema, from New Wave’s Truffaut to Depardieu, and from Deneuve to Binoche. Participants will delve into pivotal moments in their careers and their impact on French and international audiences, break down their standout performances and distinctive styles, and engage with the genres they helped bring into the spotlight.

If you’re a cinema lover, this series is definitely for you” says Valerie Nicolas, General Manager of AFS. “It’s a unique opportunity to completely immerse yourself in French Cinema, to journey through its history and development whilst simultaneously accessing some of the best contemporary French films screening at this year’s Festival.”

At the helm of this insightful series is Laurent Auclair, a Creative Screenwriter with more than 20 years' experience in the Film and Television industry, in both France and Australia, working among others for TF1, Channel 7 and on the acclaimed TV series The Wild Adventures of Blinky
and Heidi.
