Things are building towards
the release of the full Cinema Reborn program that will be presented by the
Australian Film, Television & Radio School at its Sydney Entertainment
Quarter building from 3-7 May. We are aiming to have the full program out in
the week beginning Monday March 19 and subscription tickets will go on sale at
the same time. Keep checking the Cinema
Reborn website
Notes on two more titles have
been posted on that website. Both are being provided to the festival by the Cineteca
Bologna and both have been restored by Cineteca di Bologna/L’Immagine Ritrovata
and The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project.

Rayns. Tony has recently recorded an audio commentary for a forthcoming
Criterion Blu-ray release of this remarkable film. A sample “If The Colour of
Pomegranates were a building, it would be a world heritage site.”
Melbourne-based cinephile
Peter Hourigan has written the notes for Med Hondo’s remarkable debut feature Soleil
O. A sample “Possibly
equally angry films were made at the time. But Hondo shows from the start
his powers as a real filmmaker. He thinks in images, not polemics…”
