CINEMA REBORN 2023 - A thank you for your support

Number One

CINEMA REBORN 2023 is over and the numbers are in. A big thank you  to everyone who attended and to all the people who did introductions and wrote the program notes that were posted on THE CINEMA REBORN WEBSITE and which can still be viewed or downloaded IF YOU CLICK HERE

For the record, official attendance was 1572 admissions, an increase of 19% on last year and our box office was up by 47%. (Cinema ticket prices have gone up across the board since our 2022 season).

We were also pleased that there was quite a bit of media attention for our program. If you want to revisit any of the media pieces about the season online below are a set of links

Once again thanks to everyone who made it possible and extra special thanks to the management and staff team at the Ritz who worked very hard to make sure our quite complicated event got through all of the usual problems associated with presenting a program of nineteen films, sixteen introductions, some tight turnaround times and twenty nine sessions in total over just seven days.

For the record the  top five attended films were

LA PISCINE (Jacques Deray, France, 1969, notes by Scott Murray),

THE TRIAL (Orson Welles, France, 1962, notes by Adrian Danks),

SHOESHINE, (Vittorio De Sica, Italy, 1946, notes by Dan Harper and Peter von Bagh)

THE LAST EMPEROR (Bernardo Bertolucci, UK, Italy, 1987, notes by Rod Bishop)

and the double bill of BLIND SPOT+SERIOUS UNDERTAKINGS (Claudia von Alemann, Germany 1983 + Helen Grace, Australia, 1983, notes by Claudia von Alemann + Susan Lambert)

Number Two
