At the Bondi Cinema Club - The first 40 subscribers to RSVP will get an exclusive free link to view THE WEATHER DIARIES (Kathy Drayton, Australia, 2020)

Bondi Cinema Club presents
a free online screening of "The Weather Diaries"
on Tuesday Oct 20th at 6.30 pm

FAN FORCE are co-hosting the online film screening, which will be followed by a Zoom Q&A with filmmaker Kathy Drayton and the main character Imogen Jones AKA Lupa J. They will be in conversation with programmers Gregory Miller and Georgia Wallace-Crabbe.

The first 40 subscribers to RSVP will get an exclusive free link to view the film between Sunday Oct 18 and Tuesday Oct 20. Everyone can then join the free Q&A at 8pm Tues.

When Imogen Jones first saw Princess Mononoke, the 1997 Japanese anime film by Miyazaki, her alignment with the main character was so profound that she dressed up as her for years. Later as an emerging musician, she would name her stage-persona Lupa J, in honour of the "wolf girl".

"The Weather Diaries" follows Jones, from a 15-year-old violinist struggling to find her identity in a music high-school, to her winning JJJ's Unearthed and releasing her first album and going on to tour with Sarah Blasko.

The film is a poetic and personal documentary spanning six years and leading up to and including the terrible 2020 Australian Bushfires and the heatwave that saw flying fox populations decimated on the east coast.

"Intimate and Profound"  - Journalist Kerry Brewster
"Beautifully poetic" - Adrian Martin (Screen Hub)
"Radiant with love and full of desperate love" - Zoe Goodall (Rough Cut)
