THE FILM CRITICS CIRCLE OF AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCES THE NOMINEES FOR ITS ANNUAL AWARDS FOR AUSTRALIAN CINEMA

                                                                                                                           



THE FCCA ANNUAL AWARDS FOR THE AUSTRALIAN FILMS OF 2024

 

Nominations have been announced for the annual Awards by the Film Critics Circle of Australia for Australian films of 2024. The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony 

on Monday12th May 2025 at the Paddington Woollahra RSL.

Leading the number of nominations is BETTER MAN with seven, followed by LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL with six, FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA with five, and MEMOIR OF A SNAIL and FORCE OF NATURE: THE DRY 2 with four each.

 

FCCA President Rod Quinn said, 

“This year’s nominees yet again highlight the diversity of subject matter from big international stories to intimate dramas and quirky comedies, they are all here on our screens. And this year the Australian documentaries are especially strong with two in particular about the resilience of two sporting champions. It has been a very interesting year for Australian film.”

 

The FCCA is the national body of professional film critics in Australia and a member of the international body of film critics,FIPRESCI. It has members in South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT.

Australian films eligible for the FCCA awards are those which have had a theatrical or public screening between January and December 2024. 

For the 2024 awards the FCCA will acknowledge eight categories for Australian feature fims: Best FilmBest DirectorBest ScreenplayBest CinematographyBest Actor and  Actress in a Leading Role, and Best Actor and Actress in a Supporting Role.

The FCCA also awards a Best Feature Documentary Award.

 

The 2024 FCCA Awards will be held on:

Monday 12th May 2025 

at

Paddington Woollahra RSL, Oxford Street, Paddington

6.30pm for 7.05 pm sharp

 

The Awards ceremony is open to anyone, and tickets can be booked at filmcriticsaust@bigpond.com Tickets are 25.00 per head.
