Happy Birthday - FILM ALERT 101 turns nine - Many to thank and an update on the records

This blog turned nine last month. As of today there have been 2921 posts over that time and all up the stats say that there have been 1,282,890 page views. During 2023 the following people contributed items, many of them the product of a huge amount of work, effort and love. I'm eternally grateful for all the contributions that have kept the blog going. My thanks therefore, in alphabetical order, to good friends and cinephiles Joel Archer, John Baxter, Rod Bishop, Michael Campi, Ben Cho, Marshall Deutelbaum, Ray Edmondson, Russell Edwards, Freda Freiberg, Jing Han, David Hare, Roy Hay, Bruce Hodsdon (BoG), Peter Hourigan, David King, Adrian Martin, Adrienne McKibbins, Jane Mills, Scott Murray, Margot Nash,  Barrie Pattison, Inge Pruk, Tom Ryan, Peter Tammer and Janice Tong.

For those interested, it has to be said that there has been little change in the top nine posts during the year under review.

But here they are in case your curiosity is piqued once more.

1. Tony Rayns writes an open letter to the people of Busan supporting the work of Busan International Film Festival Director Lee Yongkwan

2. David Stratton weighs in on a censorship controversy at MIFF

3. Tom Ryan also weighs in on the censorship controversy

4. Peter Hourigan draws attention to the films of Youssef Chahine

5. Vale Sylvia Lawson

6. Karl Quinn responds to the censorship controversy at MIFF

7. Adrian Martin's contribution to one of the DEFENDING CINEPHILIA surveys

8. Ken Mogg analyses Hitchcock's ROPE

9.Adrian Martin surveys the best 13 first films he's ever seen

The tenth best was my own rant about Australia Post losing a parcel and, thanks to Ross Barnard, that finally got settled. It still gets dozens of views each month.

It's been a pleasure!!
