Bondi Cinema Club is proud to present an online screening of the documentary CHINA'S ARTFUL DISSIDENT followed by Zoom Q&A session with the film's director Danny Ben-Moshe and the film's subject, Melbourne-based Chinese artist Badiucao (巴丢草;).
Badiucao is a Chinese political cartoonist, artist and rights activist based in Australia. He is regarded as one of China’s most prolific and well-known political cartoonists.
The film follows the Chinese political artist in exile, on a personal challenge to stop the Communist regime's whitewashing of history and abuse of human rights - and in the process, risking his family's freedom.
The film is particularly pertinent in the wake of the recent wind back to political freedom in Hong Kong by the Beijing central government.
Tuesday 4th August : We invite you to view the director's cut of the film beforehand and join us at 8.00pm for the Zoom Q&A. The film is 65 mins long.
