Barrie’s comments
on Apache Drums and Coleen Gray’s part in it reflect
my own admiration of that film and of Hugo Fregonese generally. It
is not surprising that this film conveys eerie heart-stopping atmospherics
through the beautifully staged Indian attacks. It was of course the last film
credit of the remarkable Val Lewton.
