Senses of Cinema - Annual Appeal for Funds

Hi Geoff

I am trying to assist in raising funds for Senses of Cinema.  Funding cuts to cultural organisations have left it without any government support.

David Stratton kindly supplied a lovely quote to assist our fundraising efforts.
“Senses of Cinema is a vitally important source of information and considered opinion and has made an invaluable contribution to Australian film culture over the past 15 years”.
We are producing a post card to encourage donations which features his quote.  I have attached the artwork at left.

We also have a quote we have used in another context from Gavin Smith who wrote in a 2014 Film Comment Editorial  “the venerable Melbourne based website Senses of Cinema …  a serious, scholarly, and uncompromising undertaking, and a home to dedicated cinephilles.”

As you know Senses is a non-profit organisation run primarily by volunteers.  Its main costs relate to the administration and development of its website: http://sensesofcinema.com/  Senses main focus is producing four issues per year, Special Dossiers, Melbourne Cinematheque screening notes, entries for its Great Directors section as well as a World Poll at the end of each year.

Any support you can provide to keep this world class journal continuing to publish high quality analysis and debate is much appreciated.

Donations can be made either online at http://sensesofcinema.com/donate/ or by sending a cheque to the address below. Australian resident donations over $2 are Tax Deductable.

It is always a bit awkward asking friends for donations or assistance like this however it helps if it is a worthy in this case “cinephile” cause.

Cheers Jenny
