Jean-Luc Godard back on Cinema Screens in Sydney

Jean-Luc Godard, (circa, 1960)
The bravest bit of commercial film programming in a long time is coming to Sydney's boutique Golden Age Cinema in Surry Hills.

Five films will be shown all from that remarkable streak of film-making by Godard in the sixties from his Breathless (1960) through Une Femme est une femme (1961), Le Mepris/Contempt (1963), Alphaville (1965), Pierrot le fou (1965),  and ending with  Made in USA (1966).

I wonder if in fact that, for at least several of these films, this may be the first time they have ever been shown on a commercial cinema screen in Sydney. No matter. Welcome

Anna Karina, Alphaville

  1. Astonishing! In Australia in these neo-conservative times! Some very brave programmer is behind this. I would like to shake his or her hand.
