I haven't seen this in 35 or 16 since the early '80s though the MGM DVD certainly approximated them with regards to fully saturated color and resolution. The intervening 30 years of cablecasts and smeary videos have certainly muddied the waters of my memory but your review takes me back to the exciting voyage of discovery into Altman's early masterworks. The 10 film span from MASH to 3 WOMEN has to be the richest run of autuerist artistry of the easy ridin' era (Or the last 50 years of American cinema) and your observations reminded me anew of the backtracking via second-run, drive-in, college 16 (scope natch) & finally full on rep screenings I had to engage in to seek out more of the sublime magic I experienced in my watershed introduction to Altman via MCCABE & MRS.
